Meet Our Executive
Gerald is the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He was involved as a volunteer with the OAMRS for several years, including a role as the Chair of the Board. Gerald has volunteered during the OARM annual conference for the last number of years. He had worked for over 30 years in various Diagnostic Imaging roles from X-ray/Angio/CT to PACS Administrator, MR charge tech, as well as a department quality position. His interests in different areas of DI have changed over the years, and he finds the OARM an asset to his current practice and is happy to participate as a board member. Gerald lives on a lake in the Kawarthas and enjoys boating, squash, as well as various outdoor activities.
Shadi Mossaed-Ball is an experienced Medical Imaging leader and proud MRT with more than 20 years of experience. She currently serves as Operations Leader for CT at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto, and previously held a leadership role as Manager of Medical Imaging at Humber River Health. Her clinical background spans general radiography, CT, and Interventional Radiology. An active member of MILO since 2018, Shadi has led initiatives in service expansion, quality improvement, patient safety, and digital transformation. She holds a Master of Science in Health Informatics, an MBA, and a Fellowship in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Outside of work, Shadi enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.
Chantel is the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging & Cardiology at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and completed a Master’s of Health Quality at Queen’s University in 2024. She started in Diagnostic Imaging in 2012 as an X-ray/ CT technologist then PACS Administrator, Charge Technologist and Manager in 2021. She started with the MILO as conference support in 2022 and transitioned into the Liaison position in 2023, then the Vice President position in 2025. Chantel has an interest and passion for Radiology and Quality Improvement and her role in healthcare. She values and appreciates the professional and personal networking opportunities and educational/ communication forums that MILO provides to bring Radiology leaders together. In her free time, Chantel enjoys spending time with her 3 children, playing soccer, being active, and travelling.
With 26 years in Diagnostic Imaging, Jackie brings a wealth of technical, educational, and
leadership expertise to the OARM. Her background spans multiple modalities including X-ray, CT,
MRI, Angiography, BMD, and PACS, providing a strong foundation in both clinical excellence and
operational leadership. In addition to her management experience, she serves as an accreditation
surveyor for educational Diagnostic Imaging programs, helping to uphold the national standards
of quality in healthcare education. She is also a professor in an MRI program, where she enjoys
mentoring and developing future imaging professionals. Jackie is currently completing a Master of
Business Administration (MBA) to strengthen strategic and organizational capabilities. Outside of
her professional roles, she leads a full and busy life with 4 children, 2 cats, 2 dogs, a bearded
dragon, and a tortoise. Balancing these commitments has shaped her leadership philosophy—
rooted in empathy, collaboration, and lifelong learning. She looks forward to contributing to the
OARM and the advancement of excellence and innovation in imaging management across
Ontario.
John is a proud MRT who has held progressive leadership roles over the past decade. He currently
serves as the Director of Clinical Support Services at Timmins and District Hospital (TADH), where
he oversees Diagnostic Imaging, Imaging Informatics, Cardio-Respiratory Services, and the
administrative lead for the NORrad regional radiology network spanning 17 partner sites across
Northeastern Ontario. In addition to his role at TADH, John is the Director of Diagnostic Imaging
for Weeneebayko Area Health Authority. A results-driven and values-based leader, John is
passionate about advancing healthcare in Northern communities through collaboration,
innovation, and strong partnerships. Recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee
Medal for his contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, he continues to champion excellence
in patient care and leadership development. Outside of work, John can often be found out on the
water or enjoying time in Ontario’s beautiful provincial parks.
Melanie Reed is the Interim Manager of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH), where she provides strategic and operational leadership for a broad range of imaging and cardiac services. With nearly two decades of experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist, including previous roles in medical imaging informatics and administration, Melanie has played a key role in advancing digital transformation, optimizing workflows, and enhancing service delivery.
Recognized for her collaborative and people-centered leadership style, Melanie is passionate about building high-performing teams, fostering staff engagement, and driving continuous improvement. Her approach is rooted in OSMH’s commitment to improving health and wellness through collaboration, innovation, compassion, and meaningful partnerships that enhance patient care and system performance.
Melanie is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Management at Athabasca University, further strengthening her expertise in leadership, organizational development, and change management.
